Honored

So on Wednesday was by brothers graduation. They are finally out of high school and going to head to college. The babies of the family are leaving. That is weird. I never thought this was going to happen. I mean you know that they are going to grow up and eventually leave but I still remember when I was in high school thinking about graduating. It was not that long ago. 10 years to be exact. I just wasn't expecting things to move along so quickly. Everybody is so proud of them and wish them a lot of success. I know they will do well. I bet they will get home sick and get culture shock because I did. I know they are not me but they have lived in a small town for most of their lives and know very little about everything else.

On another note today was the last day of work. Yesterday was the last day of classes. Now I am off for 3 whole months. I have never had so much vacation. In California we would always finish around the 2 or 3 week of June so finishing this early is kind of weird. Also I would teach summer school and this year I am not. What am I going to do with so much free time. Well I am going to go to Calif and visit my friends. That should be fun.

Also on Thursday in my box at work were 3 notes. See the students were asked to nominate a teacher that has made a difference in their lives. I received three nominations. One note said, "She is a great teahcer and easy-ging she is very smart and I like talking to her beside stuff about class." The other one said, "She is really nice, and unlike the other math teachers, she actually explains it in a way that I can actually understand. Because of her I am doing so much better in matha nd I actually like it. And the third one said, "Even though seh is a new teacher , she always makes class funa and help us learn in creative ways." I was so honored to receive these notes. You know as a teacher you always hope you are making a difference. You can tell you are affecting some students lives but you don't know to what extent until you receive a letter. These just made my day. Also on Friday my students kept asking me if I was going to teach Alg. 2 because they wanted to have me. One of them said I am the best teacher they have had. And at parent conferences 2 sets of parents told me that their child really enjoys having me as their teacher and really liked me and were looking forward to having me again. They asked me if I was teaching the next level of math and I said it all depended on the department chair. It really feels good to hear these things. Many times I wonder if I am doing a good job and what else can I do to make things better. These type of comments let me know that I am doing a good job but I still think I need to do a better job.

So does this mean you're going to take my suggestion and be here for the Baptism?
